Our Story

My name is Tray Cherry. I was born and raised here on the Gulf Coast, and I’m the owner and captain of Decked Out Sportfishing. I hold a 1,600-ton Upon Oceans license and have 20 years of inshore and offshore fishing experience.

I was introduced to fishing at an early age and was immediately hooked. There’s just something about having that rod bowed up and fighting a fish. My passion for fishing only grew stronger as I got older, branching out to new places and new tactics for different species.

For big game, I specialize in tuna, wahoo, dolphin, marlin and swordfish. There’s also nothing like wading the shores and bayous of the Chandeleur Islands chasing big speckled trout and redfish.

Deep dropping is another passion of mine. It gets my blood flowing because you never know what’s going to come up. The mysteries of the deep are always exciting, and in my opinion deep-water fish just taste better. They freeze well too, so you can save some for later to share with friends and family.
